💡 The essentials
The best Decathlon whey flavour, according to the scores Decathlon publishes, is chocolate: 4.5/5 from the tester panel for the isolate, 4.16/5 for the whey concentrate, with 100% of testers recommending it.
- The safe bet: chocolate.
- More indulgent: cookies & cream (4.39/5 in the isolate).
- For cooking: unflavoured (4.39/5, the best rated of the whey concentrate).
Decathlon sells two wheys under its own brand (formerly Corength): the “Whey protein”, a concentrate at 70% protein, and the “Pure whey protein 100% isolate”, at 82%. Both are sweetened with stevia, with no sucralose and no acesulfame K, which changes the taste considerably compared with the usual gym wheys.
We have not tasted these flavours ourselves: this ranking rests on the scores Decathlon publishes for each flavour and on the differences between the labels (sugars, protein, sweetener). That is more reliable than a single opinion, and you can check all of it on the product pages.
🥛 What are the Decathlon whey flavours?
The range runs to seven flavours, but not all of them exist in both versions. Here is what we recorded from the official Decathlon product pages in October 2026:
| Flavour | Whey protein (concentrate) | Pure whey 100% isolate |
|---|---|---|
| Chocolate | Yes | Yes |
| Vanilla | Yes | Yes |
| Cookies & cream | Yes | Yes |
| Strawberry | Yes | Yes |
| Caramel | Yes | No |
| Latte | No | Yes (40 mg of caffeine per shake) |
| Unflavoured | Yes | Yes |
The difference between the two versions is not just about taste. If you are torn between concentrate and isolate, our guide on whey isolate versus whey concentrate explains what the isolate adds: more protein, and almost no sugar or lactose left.
🔬 Our method
We compared the official product pages for every flavour (Decathlon and Decathlon Pro, October 2026) on three criteria: the overall score from the tester panel on the Decathlon co creation platform, the sugars and protein per 30 g serving, and the sweetener used. No tasting was carried out by our editorial team. The flavours with no published score (caramel, latte) are presented separately.
Before you read the ranking, a word on our current recommendation: if you want a whey further up the range than Decathlon’s, Nutripure whey is the one we recommend most often on this site.
🏆 The best Decathlon whey flavours, one by one
1. Chocolate: the best rated in the whole range

Chocolate gets the best score of all the flavours: 4.5/5 in the isolate, with 96% of testers recommending it. In the concentrate version the score drops to 4.16/5, but 100% of testers recommend it and 94% say they would buy it. Decathlon uses a Fairtrade certified low fat cocoa, which gives a genuinely chocolatey base rather than a simple flavouring.
On the label, the chocolate concentrate delivers 21 g of protein and 2.4 g of sugars per 30 g serving, one of the lowest sugar levels in the concentrate version. It is the logical choice for a first tub.
2. Cookies & cream: the most indulgent

Cookies & cream comes second, with 4.39/5 in the isolate (100% recommending it) and 4.2/5 in the concentrate. In the concentrate, 86% of testers give it 4 or 5 out of 5, but only 80% recommend it: a flavour plenty of people love, without being unanimous.
On the label, it is slightly sweeter than chocolate: 3.1 g of sugars per serving in the concentrate version, against 0.5 g in the isolate. Drunk with milk, it is the dessert flavour of the range.
3. Strawberry: the pleasant surprise of the isolate

Strawberry does better than vanilla in both versions: 4.25/5 in the isolate (95% recommending it) and 4.1/5 in the concentrate. It is also the sweetest isolate flavour, with 0.8 g of sugars per shake instead of 0.5 g, a difference that remains negligible.
A fruity flavour works well in a smoothie, a good option if you are getting tired of chocolate. In the concentrate, count on 2.9 g of sugars and 21 g of protein per serving.
4. Vanilla: the most versatile, not the best rated

Vanilla brings up the rear of the classic flavours: 4.15/5 in the isolate and 4.1/5 in the concentrate, with 87% recommending the latter. It is also the sweetest whey concentrate in the range, with 13 g of sugars per 100 g, which is 3.4 g per serving.
It keeps one real advantage: it is the easiest flavour to cook with, in pancakes, porridge or yoghurt. Almost all of our whey protein recipes can be made with a vanilla.
5. Unflavoured: the best score of the whey concentrate

A surprise: the best rated whey concentrate is the version with no flavouring, at 4.39/5 and 91% recommending it. Decathlon notes that 100% of testers find it easy to add to recipes. It contains only two ingredients and climbs to 75 g of protein per 100 g (23 g per serving).
Just do not mistake it for a treat shake: the unflavoured version is made for cooking or for a smoothie, not for drinking with water. Its score rewards its versatility above all.
📊 Decathlon whey flavours ranked: the summary table
The stars translate the published data, not a tasting: the Decathlon panel score, the sugars per serving of whey concentrate (the less there is, the more stars) and how easy the flavour is to use in cooking.
| Flavour | Panel score | Low in sugar | Versatility | Our rank |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chocolate | ★★★★★ (4.5 isolate / 4.16) | ★★★★☆ (2.4 g) | ★★★★☆ | 1st |
| Cookies & cream | ★★★★☆ (4.39 / 4.2) | ★★★☆☆ (3.1 g) | ★★★☆☆ | 2nd |
| Strawberry | ★★★★☆ (4.25 / 4.1) | ★★★☆☆ (2.9 g) | ★★★☆☆ | 3rd |
| Vanilla | ★★★★☆ (4.15 / 4.1) | ★★☆☆☆ (3.4 g) | ★★★★★ | 4th |
| Unflavoured | ★★★★☆ (4.39 concentrate) | ★★★★★ (2.0 g) | ★★★★★ | For cooking |
| Caramel | ☆☆☆☆☆ (not published) | ★★★★☆ (2.1 g) | ★★★☆☆ | Not ranked |
| Latte (isolate) | ☆☆☆☆☆ (not published) | ★★★★★ (0.5 g) | ★★☆☆☆ | Not ranked |

Caramel and latte are not ranked, for want of a published score. Caramel is one of the least sweet concentrates (2.1 g per serving); latte, available only in the isolate, brings 40 mg of caffeine per shake, so avoid it in the evening.
ℹ️ Good to know
Decathlon itself warns that its whey can taste “lighter” if you are used to sucralose and acesulfame K. Its advice: 150 ml of liquid per shake, and slightly less water for a more intense taste. Both types of sweetener are authorised and assessed by EFSA, as ANSES points out.
🎯 How should you choose your flavour at Decathlon?
Start from how you will use it rather than from the flavour itself. A shake with water after training, a shake with milk in the morning and a powder for cooking do not call for the same flavour.
- A shake with water after training: chocolate, the flavour that comes through best despite the stevia.
- A shake with milk, or a treat: cookies & cream.
- Pancakes, porridge, baking: vanilla or unflavoured.
- As little sugar as possible: any flavour in the isolate (0.5 g of sugars per shake, 0.8 g for strawberry).
To try one with no risk, start small: the whey concentrate comes in a 450 g tub and in single 30 g sachets (around €2.80 for the chocolate sachet on Decathlon Pro, recorded in October 2026). Two or three sachets will tell you more than a whole tub.
⚖️ Our verdict: does Decathlon have the best whey flavours?
No, and that is not its aim: Decathlon chose a short recipe, with stevia and natural flavourings, rather than a milkshake taste. The panel scores, between 4.1 and 4.5/5, are good without being exceptional. The real strength is elsewhere: a whey made in France, with no sucralose, easy to buy in a shop.
It is not the whey for you if you are after a very sweet, heavily flavoured taste: compare it with brands that have bolder flavours, for example through our page on the best Myprotein whey flavour. For the full analysis of the composition and the price, read our Decathlon whey review.
Other brands are worth a look on flavour. Here are the ones we suggest you compare:
- Nutripure
- Prozis
- Tibo Inshape Nutrition

❓ Frequently asked questions
What is the best whey flavour at Decathlon?
Chocolate, according to the scores Decathlon publishes. It gets 4.5/5 in the isolate and 4.16/5 in the concentrate from the tester panel. Cookies & cream follows close behind with 4.39/5 in the isolate.
Why does Decathlon whey have so little flavour?
Because it is sweetened with stevia and flavoured with natural flavourings, with no sucralose and no acesulfame K. Decathlon accepts that it can taste lighter. Cut the amount of water slightly (under 150 ml) or use milk for a bolder taste.
Does the whey concentrate taste the same as the isolate?
Not quite: the isolate scores better on every shared flavour. Chocolate goes from 4.16/5 in the concentrate to 4.5/5 in the isolate. The isolate also contains far less sugar (0.5 g per shake against 2 to 3.4 g).
Can you try a Decathlon whey flavour without buying a big tub?
Yes, the whey concentrate comes in single 30 g sachets and in a 450 g tub. That is the cheapest way to compare two or three flavours before moving up to the 900 g or 1.5 kg tub.
