💡 The essentials
- Our number 1: Nutripure Whey Isolate Native vanilla, a native isolate with 79.5 g of protein per 100 g, sweetened with stevia and boosted with lactase, around $81 per kilo of protein in the 2 kg tub.
- No sweetener at all: Protéalpes vanilla with no added sugar, made with real Bourbon vanilla, but barely sweet and lower in protein (74 g).
- The cheapest: Decathlon or MyProtein, around $68 to $69 per kilo of protein, but both are concentrates, with more lactose and less protein.
Vanilla is the most searched whey flavour in France, ahead of chocolate. But behind the same word “vanilla”, the recipes have nothing in common: isolate or concentrate, stevia or sucralose, real vanilla or a plain flavouring, and a price per kilo of protein that almost doubles from one to the next. We compared the labels of five vanilla wheys sold in France to tell you which one to pick depending on what matters to you.
🔬 Our method
This comparison relies only on the official product pages (ingredient list, nutrition facts per 100 g, milk origin) and on the prices shown on each brand’s French website on 19 October 2026. These shops bill in euros: dollar prices are converted at the European Central Bank rate of that day (1 € = $1.1225). The price criterion is the kilo of protein, not the price of the tub. We do not run lab tests and we do not taste the products: taste is up to you, the label is not.
🍦 Vanilla whey: what really changes from one brand to another
Four lines of the label make all the difference between two vanilla wheys:
- The type of whey: an isolate (80 g of protein or more per 100 g, very little lactose) or a concentrate (70 to 75 g, more lactose and fat).
- The sweetener: sucralose, stevia or none. A vanilla whey with no sweetener is much less sweet.
- The vanilla: an unspecified “flavouring”, a “natural vanilla flavouring”, or real vanilla powder.
- Protein per 100 g as sold: flavouring and sweetener take up room, so a vanilla whey always has a little less protein than its unflavoured version.

🏆 Our ranking of vanilla wheys in 2026

| Vanilla whey | Type | Protein per 100 g | Sweetener | Price per kilo of protein |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Nutripure Whey Isolate Native vanilla | Native isolate | 79.5 g | Stevia | about $81 to $90 |
| 2. Protéalpes vanilla, no added sugar | Isolate | 74 g | None | about $81 |
| 3. Nutrimuscle Native Whey Isolate vanilla | Native isolate | 80 g | Sucralose | about $87 to $109 |
| 4. Decathlon vanilla whey protein | Concentrate | 70 g | Stevia | about $69 |
| 5. MyProtein Impact Whey vanilla | Concentrate | 72 g | Sucralose | about $68 on sale, $104 full price |
The ranking weighs protein quality before price: a well-dosed native isolate beats a cheaper concentrate, because you pay for the kilo of protein, not the kilo of powder. The top two places come down to the sweetener: stevia on one side, nothing at all on the other.
1. Nutripure Whey Isolate Native vanilla: the best balance

It is the only vanilla whey in this comparison that combines native isolate, stevia and lactase. The product page states 79.5 g of protein per 100 g as sold (86% on a dry basis), French and European milk, a natural vanilla flavouring sweetened with steviol glycosides, and lactase to help digest the little lactose left. Expect $53.77 for the 750 g pouch and $128.98 for the 2 kg tub, about $90 then $81 per kilo of protein. Its weak point: the milk is partly European, while the unflavoured version is 100% French.
2. Protéalpes vanilla, no added sugar: the most natural

Protéalpes is the only vanilla whey in this ranking with no sweetener at all: whey protein isolate (91%), natural vanilla flavouring, coconut flour and 1% Bourbon vanilla powder, with milk from Rhône-Alpes pastures. The trade-off: only 74 g of protein per 100 g, less than 5% lactose and almost no sweet taste. Expect $44.84 for 750 g, about $81 per kilo of protein. Our full review: Protéalpes review.
3. Nutrimuscle Native Whey Isolate vanilla: the richest, but with sucralose

Nutrimuscle shows the highest content of this comparison, 80 g of protein per 100 g, from a native isolate made from French milk (supplier Ingredia). The recipe adds inulin, lactase, a probiotic (Bacillus coagulans) and sucralose. It is also the most expensive: $79.64 per kilo and $277.20 for 4 kg, about $100 then $87 per kilo of protein. 4. Decathlon vanilla whey protein: the easiest to find

Decathlon sells its vanilla whey for $43.77 per 900 g, online and in store, with a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 606 customer reviews on its website. It is a whey concentrate of EU origin, made in France, with skimmed milk powder, acacia gum, natural flavouring and stevia. It contains only 70 g of protein per 100 g and about 10 g of lactose, which makes it less suitable if milk does not agree with you. About $69 per kilo of protein. Our full review: Decathlon whey review.
5. MyProtein Impact Whey vanilla: the cheapest on sale

MyProtein listed its vanilla Impact Whey at $43.77 per 900 g on 19 October 2026, instead of $67.34. At that price it is the cheapest of the comparison, around $68 per kilo of protein, but about $104 at full price. It is a concentrate with 72 g of protein per 100 g, with soy and sunflower lecithins, flavouring and sucralose. Only buy it on sale: our MyProtein discount code page lists the current offers.

ℹ️ Good to know
A vanilla whey with no sweetener tastes barely sweet: that is the point, the vanilla adds flavour without sugar. If you like indulgent shakes, choose a stevia version instead; if you want full control, take an unflavoured whey and add your own vanilla or fruit.
🥤 How to prepare your vanilla whey
- With water: 30 g of powder in 250 to 300 ml of cold water, for the fewest calories.
- With milk: creamier and richer, with the protein and lactose of the milk on top.
- In cooking: vanilla goes well with porridge, pancakes or quark. Find ideas in our whey protein recipes.

🏁 Our verdict
The best vanilla whey, for us, is Nutripure Whey Isolate Native: a well-dosed native isolate, stevia rather than sucralose, lactase for digestion and a fair price per kilo of protein in the 2 kg tub. It is not for you if you want the lowest price (Decathlon and MyProtein on sale cost less) or if you refuse any sweetener (take Protéalpes). To compare with every isolate, not only vanilla, read our ranking of the best whey isolate.
⚠️ Warning
Whey complements your diet, it does not replace a meal. If you have a milk protein allergy, are pregnant or have kidney disease, ask your doctor before taking it.
❓ Frequently asked questions
What is the best vanilla flavoured whey?
Nutripure Whey Isolate Native vanilla, for its native isolate with 79.5 g of protein, its stevia and its lactase. Protéalpes is the best with no sweetener, Decathlon and MyProtein the cheapest.
Should you take vanilla whey with water or milk?
With water if you watch your calories, with milk if you want a creamier, richer shake. Milk adds about 8 g of protein and some lactose per 250 ml glass.
Is there a vanilla whey with no sweetener?
Yes, Protéalpes vanilla with no added sugar contains neither sucralose nor stevia, only natural flavouring and Bourbon vanilla powder. It is much less sweet than a regular whey.
Stevia or sucralose: what is the difference in a whey?
Both are high-intensity sweeteners authorised in Europe: sucralose is made from sugar by synthesis, stevia (steviol glycosides) is extracted from a plant. Both sweeten without calories; choose based on the taste you prefer.
