💡 The essentials

Decathlon whey is a good mid range whey: made in France, sweetened with stevia, with 70% protein in the concentrate version and 82% in the isolate. It suits beginners and tight budgets well. It is not made for anyone who wants a native whey or a very sweet taste.

Sold under the Decathlon brand (previously Corength), this whey has a rare selling point on the shelf: a short recipe, with no sucralose and no acesulfame K, available in any Decathlon store. The question is whether it earns its price against the specialist brands.

We went through the official product sheets for both versions, the concentrate and the isolate. Here is our verdict, figures in hand, on its composition, its price and the feedback Decathlon publishes.

💶 Should you buy Decathlon whey?

Yes, if you are after a decent protein that is simple and easy to get hold of, at a reasonable price.
But the best one is still Nutripure Whey 🥇, our pick if you are aiming for something more premium.

🔬 Our method

We compared the official Decathlon product sheets (October 2026): nutritional values per 100 g and per serving, ingredient list, origin, price, and the scores from the tester panel published by Decathlon. We set those against the ISSN (International Society of Sports Nutrition) position stand on protein. We do not run laboratory analyses: everything below comes from those documents.

🧪 Decathlon whey composition: what is in the tub

Decathlon whey protein (concentrate)

Product page for the Decathlon whey protein concentrate

The concentrate version delivers 70 g of protein per 100 g, which is 21 g and 5.2 g of BCAAs per 30 g serving. It is made in France, on an IFS Food certified site, from whey concentrates sourced in the European Union. The taste comes from natural flavourings and stevia extracts; the chocolate version uses a Fairtrade certified low fat cocoa.

The downside of a whey concentrate: between 6.8 and 13 g of sugars per 100 g depending on the flavour (lactose included) and around 8 g of lactose per 100 g in the unflavoured version. Nothing alarming for most people, but worth knowing if you digest milk badly.

Decathlon pure whey protein 100% isolate

Product page for the Decathlon pure whey protein 100% isolate

The isolate climbs to 82 g of protein per 100 g: 25 g and 6.3 g of BCAAs per shake, for just 0.5 g of sugars and around 0.5 g of lactose. Its whey proteins come from the Netherlands, Ireland and Denmark, with manufacturing in France. Decathlon states that it contains no aspartame, no sucralose and no acesulfame K.

One detail to know if you have allergies: the ingredient list of the vanilla isolate mentions soya lecithins as an emulsifier. To understand what sets an isolate apart from a concentrate, read our page on what whey isolate is.

Our scorecard, built from the labels and the published scores (the price criterion counts the cost of the protein, not just the cost of the tub):

CriterionConcentrateIsolate
Protein content★★★☆☆★★★★★

Decathlon panel score★★★★☆ (4.1 to 4.39/5)★★★★☆ (4.15 to 4.5/5)

💰 Decathlon whey price: really that cheap?

The 900 g tub costs around €35 as a concentrate and around €46 as an isolate (prices recorded on Decathlon Pro, Decathlon’s official store for clubs, in October 2026). The 1.5 kg concentrate format sits at around €54, and the Decathlon subscription takes 10% off with free pickup point delivery.

Measured per gram of protein, 100 g of protein works out at roughly €5.50 for the concentrate (900 g) and €6.20 for the isolate. That is fair for a whey made in France, without being the lowest on the market: Decathlon is not a discount brand, it is a convenient one.

👥 The reviews Decathlon publishes on its whey

Every flavour displays the score it got from a panel of testers on the Decathlon co creation platform. These are not anonymous customer reviews but tests run before launch: useful for comparing, as long as you read them with that in mind.

The full flavour by flavour ranking is in our guide to the best Decathlon whey flavour. The main thing to remember is that Decathlon itself warns that its whey tastes lighter than wheys sweetened with sucralose: if you like very sweet flavours, that is the main risk of disappointment.

⚠️ Watch out

Decathlon states that its whey is not recommended in cases of kidney or liver failure, for pregnant women, or under the age of 14. If that applies to you, or if you have any doubt about an allergy (milk, soya), ask your doctor before taking it.

📌 Our verdict on Decathlon whey

We recommend it to three profiles: beginners, people who want to buy their whey in a shop, and people who avoid sucralose. The isolate is the better of the two versions if your budget allows: 4 g more protein per serving, almost no sugars or lactose left, for about ten euros more per tub.

It is not for you if you want a native whey (made directly from milk rather than from cheese making whey), if you are chasing the lowest price per kilo, or if you like very sweet shakes. In those cases, our comparison of the best whey protein will point you better.

On dosing, there is no need to overdo it: the ISSN puts the effective dose per meal at between 20 and 40 g of protein, and a Decathlon shake brings 21 to 25 g. Our guide on how much whey protein per day sets out the calculation for your body weight. For the rest of the range (mass gainer, creatine), see our page on Decathlon supplements.

❓ Frequently asked questions

Is Decathlon whey good quality?

Yes, it is a serious whey, without being premium. It is made in France on an IFS Food certified site, with a short stevia based recipe. It remains a whey made from cheese making whey, not a native whey.

Where is Decathlon whey made?

In France, from whey proteins sourced in the European Union. For the isolate, Decathlon names the Netherlands, Ireland and Denmark as the countries of origin of the whey.

Is Decathlon whey suitable if you are lactose intolerant?

The isolate is the version to go for: around 0.5 g of lactose per shake, according to Decathlon. The concentrate contains far more (around 8 g per 100 g in the unflavoured version). If your intolerance is pronounced, ask your doctor for advice.

How much does Decathlon whey cost?

Around €35 for the 900 g tub as a concentrate and around €46 as an isolate (recorded in October 2026). The 1.5 kg format and the subscription (10% off) bring the price per kilo down.
