💡 The essentials
Inside Montpellier itself, TheFitShop (21 rue de Verdun) is the city centre’s specialist shop and Decathlon Odysseum has the big protein aisle. The other specialists sit on the outskirts: Kiss Nutrition in Vendargues (collection within 2 hours), FitnessBoutique in Castelnau-le-Lez and Toutelanutrition in Lattes. Be warned, none of them opens on a Sunday.
Montpellier has a quirk worth knowing about: most of the city’s sports nutrition shops are set up in the retail parks ringing the city, to the east (Castelnau-le-Lez, Vendargues) and to the south (Lattes, Saint-Jean-de-Védas). In our selection, only one specialist shop is actually in the centre.
We checked every address in October 2026 and removed the ones that no longer correspond to a shop where you can walk in and buy whey protein over the counter.
🏙️ Buying whey protein in Montpellier itself
TheFitShop, 21 rue de Verdun, 34000 Montpellier, opens Monday to Saturday from 11am to 7.30pm according to its contact page. The shop stocks whey concentrates and isolates, creatine and accessories, and makes a point of the one-to-one advice its staff give.
Decathlon Montpellier Odysseum, 1072 avenue Georges Méliès, is the store the chain highlights for protein in Montpellier, with hundreds of listed products (whey, plant proteins, mass gainers). It opens Monday to Saturday from 9am to 8pm.

🔬 Our method
In October 2026 we checked every shop against its own pages: TheFitShop’s contact page (updated in 2026), Kiss Nutrition’s shop page, the FitnessBoutique store listing, Toutelanutrition’s “Our shops” page and Decathlon’s protein page. The stars in the scorecard are our reading of that information, with no in-store visit or testing.

🧑⚖️ Our advice for buying whey protein in Montpellier
We recommend a shop for your first tub and the internet for the ones after that: at the counter you can hold two labels side by side and taste the product; online you get the promotions and the free delivery thresholds. If you are torn between concentrate and isolate, start with the differences between whey and isolate.
The out-of-town shops are not for you if you get around purely by public transport: in that case stick to TheFitShop or delivery. And if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, allergic to milk protein or being treated for kidney disease, talk to your doctor before taking whey protein.
